Utility of Blood Cultures in Pneumonia

Blood cultures are of limited utility in non-severe community-acquired pneumonia, though routinely recommended for severe community-acquired pneumonia or healthcare-associated pneumonia, due to perceived greater bacteremia risk, particularly with multidrug resistant organisms.
