An 85-year-old Japanese woman was admitted to our hospital because of a lumbar compression fracture. She spent most of her time in bed because of immobilization due to Alzheimer’s dementia. She did not have any past history of connective tissue disease or chronic kidney disease and did not have a history of intramuscular injection. On physical examination, small nodules were palpable beneath the skin on her buttocks bilaterally. Her serum-corrected calcium and phosphate levels were 9.1 mg/dL and 3.5 mg/dL, respectively.
