Veterans’ Day, 2020: Personal Reflections

This month is Veterans’ Day, 2020. The readers of The American Journal of Medicine (AJM) will probably be reading this commentary days after the celebration of Veterans’ Day 2020, but I wanted to document how a veteran of service in the US Navy, felt on this important holiday. Many today will be remembering lost relatives who died during or after the many conflicts in which the US has been involved during the 20th and 21st centuries. Personally, I have a number of memories from my early childhood, a time when my father was serving in the US Army during World War II (WWII) here in the US as well as abroad with OSS (Office of Strategic Services, the ancestor of the CIA) in what was then called Ceylon.
