“Popcorn” in the brain: A cause for confusion

A 20 year-old right-handed, male medical student presented to the emergency department with confusion. Originally from Thailand, he had no relevant background or family history and was a noted high achiever in university. His mother became concerned after the patient made multiple phone calls to her in Thailand with confused speech and repetitive questioning. He also informed her that he was having visual hallucinations.
